Ajna's spiritual journey
Part One
My story starts back in 1995. I was employed as a commercial property surveyor and for the first time in many years my family and I decided to take a holiday in Cornwall. We stayed in St Austell and toured around the area. One day we visited Mevagissey, a small village with a harbour and various gift shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs. As I stood in the middle of the road admiring the quaint old buildings, something came over me, a feeling, in what I know now as the Solar Plexus. With this feeling came words that told me that I didn’t need my job anymore, that there is more to life than I currently know. For the rest of the holiday I had in my thoughts, as soon as I get back to work I’m going to hand in my notice. At this point I hadn’t mentioned anything to my family. This was a crazy idea considering I had a well paid job with a company car, mortgage allowance, a four bedroom detached house, two young children and a wife, but I had this overwhelming confidence that I didn’t need my job anymore.
After we returned home, I went back to work and was greeted by being told the company is merging with another company and we have all got to apply for our own jobs. Well! I couldn’t believe my ears, after the thoughts I had been having. So for a while the company were handing me application forms to fill in and every time I would say, “no thanks I don’t want a job”. After a few months they closed down our survey department in Ipswich and I was transferred to Watford branch. I was only there a short time before they started handing me application forms to apply for various surveying jobs. Again I refused. They thought I was completely mad. What are you going to do? Buy this time I had decided to go self-employed with the intention of opening a shop selling collectibles. Without the company’s knowledge I had booked to go on four business courses which were free, also I had made a list of products to sell and found the suppliers. At no point did I deviate from my plans, this overwhelming feeling of confidence was still with me and I had no fear of the consequences that might occur if I decided to go through with it. I just knew it was going to be alright. I was definitely being guided.
After a short period of time at Watford branch, it was closed down and I was transferred to Hertford. Again out came the application forms, none of which I filled in. Now I had to decide where I should open my shop. I made enquiries in Ipswich town but the rent and rates were well out of my reach. Then I remembered Stonham Barns craft and leisure complex which I had previously surveyed. That evening our local evening newspaper came through my letter box by mistake. It should have gone to my neighbour’s house. I decided to read it before taking it around to next door. I opened the newspaper and there to my amazement was an advert saying unit to rent at Stonham Barns. I telephoned and made an appointment to view the unit. On visiting, I found the unit to be too expensive for me. The manager said I do have another unit which we are selling and all you need to do is rent the ground it is on. So I viewed it and agreed a purchase price and bought it. Around the same time I ordered all the stock. At any point in time the company could have turned around and just offered me a job but they didn’t and eventually I was told my leaving date would be 30th June 1997. Because I was now working over two hours away from home they had no choice but to give me voluntary redundancy and I received a substantial cheque which paid for the shop, the stock and a car. I opened my business on 3rd July 1997.
After being open for about a month, I was sitting at my desk in the shop with the double doors open as it was a beautiful summer’s day, and a lady walked in and put a book down in front of me and said "I think you had better read this" and walked out.
Now you have to bear in mind I am not one for reading books, but I picked it up and started to read it. I was absolutely amazed by what I was reading. I had experienced a lot of what is written about in the book. This book is called The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield. Eventually the lady returned to the shop and told me she was a psychic and healer. I asked her if she would teach me everything she knows on a one to one basis and she agreed.
On my first visit she taught me meditation and visualisation. Close your eyes Paul, what do you see? Black I said. She made me stare at a candle for a minute or two and then she said, now close your eyes again, what do you see. I see the candle. After a period of time and plenty of practice I started to see shapes forming. The next thing she taught me was healing, not spiritual healing or Reiki just healing and feeling energy from objects such as crystals. I practiced healing on my wife at first. I would place my hands on her shoulders and feel this rush of energy go through my body. I would heat up and almost pass out. I had no control over it.
